·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ Strategic Plan

The strategic plan outlines our key areas of priority for the years ahead, enabling the College to deliver on its mission and vision.

To enable ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ to deliver on our mission, and vision of ‘excellence and equity in women’s health’, the strategic plan outlines our key areas of priority for the years ahead, guiding the College as we consolidate our position as the peak body for obstetrics and gynaecology and women’s health in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

While the delivery of education and training is ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ’s core business, the College is also focused on several key objectives to support members and trainees in delivering the best possible health outcomes for women and their families, as outlined in the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan.


Key achievements

Over the past three years, we are pleased to have accomplished several key achievements across our strategic priorities.

AMC Accreditation·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ successfully achieved the full six years’ accreditation following AMC assessment for re-accreditation in ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ 2023.  
Curriculum RenewalThe new F·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ Curriculum was launched in early 2024. Work is underway to review subspecialities and Certificate and Associate ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ Programs.  
Assessment, Learning and Examination Centre (ALEC)·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ opened a to enable an enhanced exam experience for trainees, examiners, and clients. 
CPD Home·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ became the first accredited CPD home under the new AMC standards, receiving praise on the set up and resourcing of our CPD program.  
Member EngagementMajor events including our ASM were engaging and well-attended, with over 2,500 delegates across all events (2022-·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ 2023).  
Fostering Respect Action Plan·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ committed to upholding a culture of inclusion and respect in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is making considerable progress in implementing the action plan.
Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2024-2026·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ launched the Innovate RAP – a crucial step in an ongoing journey towards inclusion, respect, and meaningful change for First Nations people.  
Te Rautaki MÄori me te Ara WhakamuaThe Aotearoa New Zealand MÄori Strategy now includes a MÄori trainee survey on trainee retention, development of cultural competence and ongoing work on the MÄori O&G workforce. 
Guidelines and Statements·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ made significant progress in evidence-based development of statements and guidelines. Our first bi-national Abortion Guideline was launched at the ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ 2023 ASM.  
Advocacy and InfluenceThe College actively engaged with Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Governments, peak bodies, hospitals, and important stakeholders to advocate for our members, trainees and women’s health.  

What’s next?

In the coming weeks and months, we will embark on a comprehensive process to shape our new 2025-2027 strategic plan.

This will include: 

Conducting a member survey to gather perspectives and priorities

Hosting focus groups to delve deeper into specific areas of interest and concern

Seeking comprehensive feedback from committees and other stakeholders
