Doctors’ Professional Development and Self Care Retreat

  • Thursday 18 July to Sunday 21 July
    8.00am to 5.00pm
  • Location: Various venues
  • Continuing Professional Development, Wellbeing, Workshops

Whole Hearted Medicine provides a structured program of educational seminars, interactive workshops and experiential learning sessions. Doctors leave with a toolbox that they can draw upon in times of stress and distress to ensure their longevity in the careers of medicine.

The retreats run over four days and three nights with all participants attending on site for all sessions.

The participant to facilitator ratio does not exceed 15:1, allowing for intensive support and education for all attendees.

All sessions are interactive and designed to encourage collaborative learning and promote intercollegial connections, delivered by either Dr Emily Amos or another expert in the field.

There is a predisposing activity based on identifying personal health and wellbeing factors that will be assessed against a post participation activity. The predisposing activity results are used to help guide individual education activities during the retreat.

At the end of the retreat, doctors leave rested and restored. They have tools to manage stress. They have a personal wellbeing plan. They have clarity of the areas they are doing well in and the ones that need attention with actionable steps delineated. Doctors leave with a toolbox that they can draw upon in times of stress and distress to ensure their longevity in the careers of medicine.
